[/i]ith lighthouses, lobsters and beach bonfires, is it any wonder the rich flock to the beautiful coasts of cape cod during the sunny summer months? it seems not, as they do in their thousands every time the season rolls around. restaurants can charge top prices, shops enjoy a tenfold turnover, and the customers are only too happy to pay premium. but when the beach towels are all packed up and the sunscreen is made redundant, there are thousands of residents left to go back to their lives with the sleet and snow. it's easy enough for glamorous billionaires to buy up the nicest properties on offer for their occasional use, but what of those who have to clean those empty buildings, who have to stake their mortgage on next year's summer takings? the people who sway between periods of intense boredom and intense exhaustion, trying to meet fluctuating demand. the kids who have their freedom snatched away from them, their beaches cluttered with strangers and their roads cluttered with distant number plates. life isn't always easy, but try telling the tourists that.
